I recently had a water leak from pipes running under my 2nd floor which resulted in water leaking from the ceiling to the first floor. Started at around 4 AM. Mother in law woke me up all wet.
Since this is the first time dealing with a situation like this, I got hold of the first available local plumbing company who could help stop the leak.
The guys responded in like 1 hour and they called in QuickDry to help with the remediation. I started calling my Insurance company (Travelers) to file a claim. QuickDry responded in less than an hour. Insurance company asked if there is someone already contacted for the remediation and I said that the plumbers have contacted QuickDry. Note: At that time, the insurance company did not offer their own recommendation of a remediation company. QuickDry came in, went through paperwork and started their work removing all the damage, flooring etc. They setup all their equipment. Took them like 8 hours but the techs. were very professional and thorough. Due to their quick response they helped limit the damage to only the bedroom. All went well and the equipment they used (dehumidifiers etc.) were like those powerful ones. I presume the objective was to dry it off as quickly as possible. Then the trouble with the insurance company started. The insurance adjuster was refusing to pay the full amount that QuickDry had billed for. The insurance company instead sent in a company they mentioned they worked with to provide their estimate. This "preferred" company was based off a location that was about 100 miles away. These guys came in 3 days later for the inspection. The company came in with a quote of about 1/3 the amount. I was not happy with the way the insurance company was dealing with QuickDry. They literally refused to talk to QuickDry. QuickDry was so patient in all this. I was so confused why would an insurance company was not willing to pay for a something that would have saved them more money. If I had waited for their recommended company (100 miles away), assuming they would have responded right away like QuickDry did, I would think not only the bedroom, but my living room etc. would have been flooded. I argued with the insurance company, Not only was the insurance company adjuster and his supervisor rude, they did not even consider the fact that we had to act fast to reduce the damage which in turn saved them so much more money. It's like they were willing to allow more damage but we have to use their own "preferred" remediation company. Something did not smell right here.
But in any case, QuickDry was awesome. They were patient during all this "negotiations". They are a small local business and I would think we all would like to support them rather than a company based 100 miles away. In any case I thank QuickDry for their quick response and for doing an excellent job on remediating the flood. Lisa who I worked with at QuickDry is awesome!! Thank You for your patience and having to deal with the insurance company. I would recommend QuickDry anytime to anyone who need flood services.
